Water / Wastewater Treatment Projects

Upgrade and Retrofit of Wastewater Treatment Facilities–Project Engineer for Jefferson Parish Upgrade and Retrofit of Marrero Wastewater Treatment Facilities, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.  Specific duties included the engineering evaluation to upgrade the existing facilities from 8 MGD average daily flow and 24 MGD peak flow to 24 MGD average daily flow and 75 MGD peak flow; evaluation and flow monitoring of six influent pumping facilities and one effluent pumping facility with related influent and effluent pipelines and appurtenances; and evaluation and projections for facility additions to meet needs through the year 2035.

Solids Handling Facilities–Project Engineer and Senior Mechanical Engineer for Upgrade and Retrofit of Existing Solids Handling Facilities, Marrero Wastewater Treatment Facilities, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.  Specific duties included procurement and installation of two (2) 2-meter belt filter presses, sludge pumping facilities, polymer feed and mixing facilities, and fine bubble air diffusion in solids contact basin and digesters.

Upgrade and Retrofit of Wastewater Treatment Facilities–Project Design Engineer for U.S. Army, Fort Polk, Leesville, LA.  Contract No. DACA 63-89-D-0148, Phase I-Project No. SJ03044-1P, 1990-1991, Phase II-Project No. SH00060-1P, 1991-1992.  Specific duties included the following: Preliminary engineering evaluation; Site reconnaissance and field flow determination; Process and structural design of new advanced treatment facilities; Process and structural design of new stormwater facilities; Process and structural design of new headworks; Retrofit design of existing clarifiers, trickling filter, and effluent pumping station; Technical specifications for civil, mechanical, and process; and Generation of Phase II drawings in AutoCAD format.

Wastewater System Improvements–Principal Engineer for surveying, engineering evaluation, project design, and construction management for $10 million project for the City of Alexandria, LA.  Duties included design of thrust devices for all piping and pipelines, structural design of all pipelines and foundations, design of 36-inch outfall force main from wastewater treatment facility to the Red River including modification to marine outfall, structural design of concrete wet wells, valve vaults, etc., to 35 feet deep, and six (6) pumping facilities ranging in capacity from 2 MGD to 18 MGD.  As Project Construction Manager, GEEC was in charge of construction administration of four multi-million dollar contracts, and supervised daily construction QA/QC with six (6) construction inspectors and material testing personnel directly under his supervision.
 

Pumping Facility Projects

Stormwater Pumping Facility–Project Engineer/Senior Mechanical Engineer for a Dual 40 CFS Stormwater Pumping Station for the Greater New Orleans Port Commission, New Orleans, Louisiana.  Specific duties included the evaluation, design, construction drawings, specifications, contract documents, and cost estimating for two (2) 30-inch, 40 CFS VTSH pumps and related outfall pipe for Stormwater Pump Station P6, France Road Terminal, Port of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Stormwater Pumping Facility–Senior Mechanical Engineer for four (4) 12 CFS stormwater pumping stations for the Greater New Orleans Port Commission, New Orleans, Louisiana.  Specific duties included the evaluation and design of four (4) dual 16-inch, 12 CFS, VTSH pumping stations for Area 1 facilities, France Road Terminal, Port of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Wastewater Effluent Pumping Facility–Senior Mechanical and Structural Engineer for U.S. Army, Fort Polk, Leesville, Louisiana.  Specific duties included the evaluation, mechanical and structural design, and specifications to upgrade and retrofit the existing effluent pumping station at the North Fort Polk Wastewater Plant.  Facilities included two (2) 14‑inch VTSH effluent pumps, reinforced concrete structure 24 feet in depth, and related effluent piping and appurtenances.

Stormwater Pumping Facility–Senior Mechanical and Structural Engineer for U.S. Army, Fort Polk, Leesville, Louisiana.  Specific duties included the evaluation, mechanical and structural design, and specifications for the stormwater pumping station at the North Fort Polk Wastewater Plant.  Facilities included two (2) 16-inch VTSH effluent pumps, one (1) 12‑inch VTSH effluent pump, reinforced concrete structure 28 feet in depth, and related effluent piping and appurtenances.
 

Water / Wastewater Transmission Collection and Distribution Projects

Water Transmission Project–Project Design Engineer for 18 miles of 24-inch main and 25 miles of 42-inch main for the City of Alexandria to serve the Pineville Kraft Paper Mill.  Duties included design of surge protection and trust devices for design surge pressures up to 400 psi; seven (7) subaqueous bayou crossings; dual 36-inch Red River levee crossings; structural design of pipeline and foundation (including mat and piling foundations) for 42-inch pipeline in Bayou Boeuf swamp area; and pumping facilities with dual capacities of 16 MGD.
